Last week, I visited James Jeans in New York to see their FW12 collection of fantastic cuts and superior surface treatments. With the "everyday woman" as her muse, creator and head designer Seun Lim is hoping to exceed expectation with a new, never-before-attempted approach to fit. The James Jeans Couture Collection features manipulated patterns, construction techniques and material combinations to complement all body types.
For the Couture Collection's three fits (skinny, strait and bootcut), stretch, compression and padded fabrics are strategically engineered for optimal sculpting and shaping. All three styles have been designed to smooth and slim a woman's figure, from the high waist to the lower hips and inner thigh. The enclosed yoke and pockets gently lift the entire back hip and rear end.
The Couture Collection (as well as the label's traditional women's collection) comes in a trend-led variety of autumn colors and surface treatments. Waxed leathery effects and dirty washes remain key (I love the sooty pink skinnies), with patterned stud embellishments creating a rocker vibe. For men, colored denim is also important with solid neutrals, reds and aquas standing out for FW12.
