I first came across Japanese fashion label BEAMS+ in 2007 on a rainy friday night in Shibuya, Tokyo. New to the city and there to visit Big John Denim, I was looking forward to having the weekend to take in some sites, experience the culture and shop the market. BEAMS+ immediately caught my eye, merging a heritage workwear aesthetic with beautiful materials and fine Japanese craftsmanship.
While now more accessible, the label remains as coveted and ahead of the curve as it was back then. For FW12, BEAMS+ offers a mature take on outdoorsy gear, merging camper silhouettes with suits and overcoats. Cargo and camouflage pants mix with cotton Oxford shirts, sharp blazers and neckties.
