I paid a visit to David Kahn's showroom recently and was able to preview their Fall 2013 collection as well as the Holiday 2013 collection set to hit stores in October.
It was my first time visiting the brand and although I'd heard of it, I was shocked to discover that they are almost 10 years old! As I went through the collection, I began to understand why the brand has had such longevity.
For Holiday, it was all about color and print. Neon colors confirmed that we won't have to pack up our brights when the weather gets cooler. My favorite, however, were the metallic colors. If any other brand is doing that for holiday I have yet to see it. Kudos to David Kahn for introducing another color option for us.
For Fall, color still abounded, but in cords as opposed to jeans. There's something awesome about the way the brushed fabric in corduroy holds color and David Kahn exploited this feature by making the colors super bright.
Saving the best for last, I was all over the denim on denim prints. That's a phrase used in the David Kahn showroom but I am totally stealing it. Essentially, it's laser finishing that abrades the denim in intricate patterns and/or a traditional dye process using indigo on indigo. Either way, I was sold. My favorite of this process was the leopard print over the inky tie-dye jeans (below). I would have described it as a print on print, but David Kahn's "denim on denim print" sounds a lot better.
David Kahn jeans retail from $158-$198 and cords from $168.
