Helmut Lang Pre-Fall 2012 collection
For their Pre-Fall 2012 collection, Helmut Lang looked to a study on spiders on drugs for inspiration. After administering a different substance to each spider, researchers monitored the spiders at work. The spider on LSD spun an intricate creation, while the marijuana-induced spider's web had gaping holes.
The caffeinated spider's construction was the most erratic, and is the main inspiration for Helmut Lang's prints, burnouts and delicate open construction knits. The grey-on-white printed skinny jean pairs with almost every top or outerwear piece in the collection (even those that are also boldly patterned). Updating the label's asymmetric cuts and snuggly pieced leather jackets, fresh acid lime and jungle greens emerge alongside classic Helmut Lang black.
