Holiday/Resort collections abound and some of them are pretty sizable for a season that's normally truncated. GUESS by Marciano, the more sophisticated and mature line of the GUESS? family, is one of those collections that is fairly large. Denim is not a major focus of GUESS by Marciano but there are still some noteworthy pieces included in this season.

The line is separated into several design inspirations. There's a glitzy, dazzling section of glamorous evening gowns and jewel-toned separates. A standout piece in the showroom was a bright purple boyfriend blazer that would be fabulously '90's with a pair of light colored, ankle skimming jeans and black oxfords. Speaking of light colored jeans, a pair of ripped and torn jeans were embellished with pearl-like beading on the back pockets and with additional beading peaking through the tears. Embellishments end here, however, as denim throughout the rest of the line was kept simple and clean.

Nautical themes were the inspiration for another section of the collection with stripes being a common motif in fleece blazers and shirts. This section contained the most denim with bright whites and dark indigos further emphasizing the navy blues and whites of traditional nautical collections. High-waisted flair legs, called to mind old sailor pants when placed in this context and white skinny jeans took on an understated elegance not normally associated with denim.

Rounding out the collection was a military-inspired theme full of olive greens, grays and maroons
