Denim on the Runway: London Fashion Week: Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

00060m

Chloe Sevigny's second collection for Opening Ceremony only makes it's way onto this space for the item pictured above. Although simple, we love the idea of bringing back the denim vest and the way it's styled at the Chloe for O.C. presentation during London Fashion Week proves that it fits in seamlessly with current trends. Don't believe us, check out Kelly Osbourne.

Denim on the Runway: London Fashion Week: Ann-Sophie Back

Ann-Sophie Back sent denim than had been ripped to shreds down the runway. Indigo was bleached down to white leaving just a hint of blue tint. Skinny jeans were nowhere to be found as the mom jean becomes cool again.

Denim on the Runway: London Fashion Week: Charles Anastase

There's no rest for the weary as London Fashion Week picks up were the shows in New York left off. Charles Anastase, showing at LFW for only the second time, found inspiration in his own youth, creating looks that spanned several subcultures; goth, punk, and teddy boys, among others. According to Anastase "It was an autobiographical show and I was looking at my teenage years. It is about youth culture with strong elements of today."

Denim on the Runway: NY Fashion Week: Richie Rich Show

Richie Rich may not have Traver Rains, but Heatherette lives on in his namesake collection that showed this week. Denim jackets, oddly reminiscent of the razzie-worthy 80's movie, Solarbabies, were presented on models of varying size. And in something we've come to expect from past Heatherette shows, Pamela Anderson made an appearance towards the end as the requisite oddball celebrity.

Denim on the Runway: NY Fashion Week: Tommy Hilfiger

For Tommy Hilfiger's return to the runway, denim took a back seat to more preppy, sophisticated attire, however, classic blue jeans added flair to polished outerwear.

Denim on the Runway: NY Fashion Week: Baby Phat

The Baby Phat show was held at Gotham Hall this season and much to the chagrin of many, had a lot of celebrity no-shows. This is unusual, as this show  is particularly known for the crush of celebs that fete the event.

As the models walked the runway, the theme seemed to be, keep it simple, but not boring. Silhouettes and shapes didn't break any new ground, but embellishments, such as paint, abrasions and zippers spiced things up a bit.

Front Row at Diesel Black Gold

Kate Bosworth, Common, Roisin Murphy and Nicole Richie watched intently as the models strutted down the runway during the Diesel Black Gold Fall 09 show. Notice Roisin's quirky style and marblized-wash jeans.

Denim on the Runway: NY Fashion Week: Marc Jacobs

At the Marc Jacobs show, amidst all the electro-pop color and angular silhouettes was a surprising treat for denim lovers. An overall skinny jean was jazzed up with pleats at the hips in a throwback to the 80's in blue and purple overdyes. Normally pleated pants are considered a giant no-no, but leave it to Marc Jacobs to find a way to make it work.
