Although based in New York, with factories in Japan boasting 115 years of history, cotton imported from Egypt, Cameroon and Zimbabwe and stocked in stores around the world, Blue Notch Jeans can be most accurately described as a truly international brand. Blue Notch styles itself as a brand where uptown quality meets downtown edge; for those non-comforming men and women who appreciate the finer details of life and when they say details, they mean it. Every aspect is thought out down to the particulars from the logo-engraved rivets, to the sound the button makes and superb comfort and style is achieved by using superfine Japanese denim with 5% stretch.
For Fall 2009, Blue Notch introduces new fabric innovations such as denim mixed with a whopping 30% cashmere or linen for wrinkle-free, body-con silhouettes. Vintage accents have also been added by using novel techniques exclusive to Blue Notch that include stitching the jean surface with broken needles. Subtle ombre' effects, where the top of the jean is a dark indigo getting progressively lighter as it reaches the bottom, are done by hand and create a slimming effect while accentuating the curves. In addition, to further solidify their status as a progressive brand, Blue Notch is one of the few denim brands to own their own washing factory. So not only are they able to experiment with new techniques but a special filtration system for the water allows them to ensure they minimize their carbon footprint.
