The Levi's Vintage Clothing Collection Debuts at the J.Crew Men's Shop

The J.Crew Men's Store in SoHo recently hosted an event showcasing the inclusion of Levi's Vintage Clothing to the store's offerings. The collection is a fitting addition as the store itself, designed in collaboration with Andy Spade, pays homage to the relics of Americana and is curated with antiques from the company's own private collection. 

The Levi's Vintage Clothing itself is a curated selection of heritage-inspired 
denim that was purchased by J.Crew from Levi's to be sold in the shop. The styles available are;

• 1967 505® Dead Stock Jean made with heavyweight red selvedge denim
• 1947 501® Brain Dead Jean also made with red selvedge denim with a light wash and lightly scuffed for an authentic aged finish, the 
• 1967 505® Tiny Dark Jean which is made with preshrunk, well-worn, red selvedge denim. 
• The 1937 501® Barren Land Jean, a classic vintage style based on the last authentic workwear jeans before the clothes rationing of WWII 
• 1947 501® Exile Jean, a five-pocket jean featuring patches of wear, creasing and rust on worn-in denim
• 1920's Sack Coat, an iconic piece of American work wear history in lighter-weight denim with branded brass buttons    

Each of the designs was recreated from Levi's own archives and were handcrafted using original techniques from 1873. The prices are upwards of $200 and are available in limited quantities making them authentic collectors items for denim aficionados.

Although, Levi's Vintage Clothing is on prominent display within the shop, J.Crew's own offerings are noteworthy as well. Denim walls line the shop with a selection of their finest men's denim in various washes and silhouettes. An item that immediately caught our attention was the Mister Freedom Naval pea coat made of raw, unwashed denim with thick slub yarns for added texture. On the rack, the item is offered in its raw form, but the display item was nicely broken in by the designer himself who swam with it in the bay and rolled around in the sand to give it an authentic well-used appearance.  Check out theDenimHunt Facebook Group for more photos from the event.
