Genetic Denim Spring/Summer 2010 Lookbook

 

I love lookbooks. It's always interesting to see how different brands choose to editorialize their offerings. Some go for the straightforward approach and take photos of their wares mugshot-style, which, although may not be as visually stimulating, does have its merits. However, there are some brands that, when creating their lookbooks, choose to take us to new places. You may not get the clearest look at times, but you definitely can get lost in the pages. 

Genetic Denim, without question, falls into the latter category. I had to view their lookbook several times, because I could only make it so far before visions of frolicking with butterflies danced in my head. It was a pleasant fiction even though I'd have to constantly remind myself to look at the clothes. For the most part, the picture that is painted matches the clothing being shown. There is a wispy, nostalgic quality to faded blue jackets and vests over playful, flouncy, summer dresses or vintage looking bell-bottoms. There are a few surprises, however, such as the white, "alligator skin", denim leggings as well as the ripped and torn jeans with metallic embellishments peeping through the destruction. Skinny jeans with a zipper that starts from the back of the ankle up to the mid-thigh will give the creative person lots of options.
