Italian designer Domenico Vacca, best known for his tailored red carpet looks for the likes of Denzel Washington and Jeremy Piven, has entered the realm of premium denim with a celebrity-inspired collection called Domenico Vacca Denim. Although I missed the unveiling (vacation), I'm sure it's safe to say that the new line will draw on Vacca's bespoke and tailoring expertise. The jeans will be named after many of his celebrity clientele like the "Jeremy Jean" (Jeremy Piven), the "Mickey Jean" (Mickey Rourke) and the "Forest Jean" (Forest Whitaker) with a price range from $345 - $600.
Last month Vacca held a three-city unveiling at his eponymous boutiques that kicked off in New York City, continued in Bal Harbour and concluded in Beverly Hills. All three events had a celebrity turnout from NFL stars Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, Ramses Barden and Terrell Owens as well as actors Shaun Toub of Ironman and Michael Kenneth Williams of HBO's Boardwalk Empire.
The unveiling also included a casting tour to search for the new faces for Domenico Vacca Denim. Entries are still being accepted at www.dvdenim.com with a public vote being used to help select the winner. The winners will be selected September 2010 during NY Fashion Week.
