Helmut Lang Denim Resort 2010 Lookbook

I wasn't able to make it to the preview of Helmut Lang's Women's Resort 2010 presentation. I'm only one person which, unfortunately, makes it hard to be at several places at once. Be that as it may, the people over at Helmut Lang were kind enough to send over images from their latest denim collection.

The company has always had denim incorporated into their line, but last Spring, to some fanfare, decided to launch a separate line focused solely on the fabric. Helmut Lang as a whole is defined by it's refined minimalism and that creative principle can be found throughout this collection as well. Body skimming jeans are the norm throughout, but a leg-lengthening flare-leg is also a standout piece. Where many denim-focused brands move into sportswear to round out their lines, I'm really impressed by the fact that Helmut Lang uses denim from top to bottom. Sharp angles and architectural looks are eye-catching in jackets, coats and shirts. I also found the dusky hue permeating the washes very appealing as it was consistently used from indigo-dyed jeans to whites.

All in all, absent is the hype, the fancy washes or the gimmicks to be replaced by design, pure and simple.
