After viewing Rock & Republic's Fall 2010 lookbook for their accessories collection, I took an unexpected walk down memory lane. I remember when I got my first pair of Rock & Republic Jeans. It was around 2004. They were faded, flare-leg jeans with rainbow-colored, embroidered 'R's' on the back pockets. By then the company had been around for about 2 years but I was just discovering them. Premium denim as a mainstream concept was still fairly new and I was rotating a pair of those ubiquitous Seven jeans, that were an everyone-whose-anyone item at the time, and mixing it up with a pair of Paper Denim & Cloth jeans, which I literally wore until they fell apart. By the time I bought my first pair of Rock & Republic jeans, I was looking for something fresh because those two pairs had replaced every single pair of jeans I owned previously, and I owned a lot of jeans. They were a good purchase. They went great with boots and I can remember being complimented on them several times when I first started wearing them.
Looking back, I would have never thought that this fledgling premium denim brand would have become a full on apparel line complete with accessories. Especially in such a relatively short time. Not because they didn't have what it takes, but at the time, the apparel industry debated repeatedly on whether the growing demand for premium denim was even going to last. Funny, because all the while denim brands were, and still are, popping up like hotcakes.
Diversifying. Maybe that was the key to longevity. Rock & Republic certainly embrace this concept as their accessories range is almost as extensive as their apparel line and, as far as I know, pretty successful. (Katy Perry was just recently seen wearing a pair of their shoes on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards) All items in the collection, whether shoes, sunglasses or eyeglasses, are signature Rock & Republic with the studs, spikes and extra hardware that the brand is known for.
I prefer to show an entire lookbook uncut but, had to edit this one down to an overview. Although it is limited to shoes and eyewear (they also have a handbag collection), the amount of images would be sure to overload some of your computers.
