Levi's Encourages You to Create Art in the Levi's Workshop

 

Levi's is one of the few large brands that consistently makes a commitment to the arts whether it be public art installations or supporting performing arts.  In that same spirit, Levi's has recently launched the Levi's Workshop which is a community-based program featuring a fully functional workshop and event space that is open to the public.

The workshop is located in San Francisco down the street from one of Levi's original factories at 580-582 Valencia Street. The focus is on the art of printmaking and visitors will be able to create their own art on one of two Vandercook proof presses, tabletop letterpresses or screenprinters. The workshop will also host a number of cultural and artistic events including printmaking seminars, readings, book launches and parties. These events will be hosted by noteworthy San Francisco pioneers such as Craig Newmark of Craigslist, chef and author Alice Waters and film director and writer Aaron Rose. These pioneers will also create original items that will be showcased and sold in the workshop as well. 

The workshop will run every Sunday from now till August 28th. There are plans to bring it to New York City in the Fall, but where the focus is on printmaking in San Francisco, the New York workshop will focus on photography.
