The Guess Summer 2011 collection was a delight to preview as it was obvious the design team really outdid themselves this season.
For women, flairs are going to be big for Spring/Summer and they were, of course, present in the collection. But true fashionistas are going to drool over the super fabulous, corset jumpsuit with the mega-flaired legs (above). I've been drooling ever since I saw it styled in the lookbook and was absolutely giddy seeing it up close.
When it comes to making statements though, flairs are going to have to compete with color in jeans and shorts in the form of rusts and pinks, as well as polka-dotted prints. For those that want to go more 'basic', you can still find skinnies and bootcuts in traditional indigo washes and finishes.
Mens denim was loaded with treatments and had an updated Americana feel to it. Shirts with western details were given a modern-day acid wash. Jeans were highly textured with nubbly slub yarns or abraded down for three dimensional effects. An interesting stand-out was the dark denim, somewhat cropped, jacket with the pleated details. It's nice when menswear takes a cue from womenswear, but still manages to maintain a masculine feel.
