Rue de Jeans Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook
No gloss, no pretense. That's how I would describe Rue de Jeans. The brand describes itself on its website as using "luxurious Italian and Japanese fabrics...to create an iconic European style with a hint of 18th centuray impressionism where French and Japonism heavily influenced the overall art and fashion culture of that era". Whew a mouthful. And it sounds very pretty and interesting. However, when I view their lookbook I just see good jeans.
As a blogger who only blogs about one thing, denim, it amazes me sometimes how varied I can be in my descriptions about each brand. That is a testament to the industry which has differentiated itself so well in fashion as well as a credit to the brands which have distinguished themselves so clearly from their competitors. Sometimes, though, it's just nice to view a lookbook, or go to a press preview and be able to walk away saying, this is a brand that kept it simple and got it right. With Rue de Jeans you get a good fit, classic washes and on trend styles. I mean, really, that's all you need. Everything else is extra.
