Did you know that yesterday March 22nd was World Water Day. I must confess. I didn't either. That's why it's good that brands like Levi's use their reach to promote causes such as this. So what is World Water Day you ask. Well, it was established in 1993 by the United Nations to draw attention to the water issues facing the world and to advocate for sustainable management. Each year on March 22nd, World Water day focuses on a specific issue facing fresh water.

Levi's, who recently launched the Levi's Water<Less jeans collection, joined with Water.org to stage a Water March. This conisisted of 100 'water carriers' who made a 3 mile journey through New York City starting at South Street Seaport. The journey was meant to symbolize the distance millions of people in developing nations have to walk daily in order to access clean water. Wow. Really makes you think huh? Along the way, each water carrier hauled a 5 gallon water jug over their heads.

Not only is Levi's drawing attention to this issue but they are asking for your help as well. The brand launched an interactive facebook app called Levi's WaterTank which encourages participants to try fun, online water-saving challenges. Each completed challenge unlocks water from the Levi's WaterTank and supports Water.org's clean water projects. Also Levi's will donate $250,000 to Water.org to fund sustainable water programs that will provide almost 200 million liters of water to communities in need.
