Walking into the Cynthia Vincent showroom was like walking into a sea of prints. At first glance it was hard to imagine that there wasn't a print pattern covered, but upon closer inspection there was a method to the madness.
I'm not an expert on the origins of print patterns but I was able to identify Navajo-inspired prints, a few ethnic-inspired floral prints and some abstract animal prints all in loose, flouncy, drapy tops and dresses. Although this was a Fall presentation, the fabrics were lightweight enough for Spring with some items close to sheer; an interesting contrast with the dark, seasonal prints. There's a little of a boho vibe in the collection which makes me wonder if the look that wouldn't go away is making a comeback. I have to say, I am somewhat interested in seeing it reinterpreted for a new audience.
Along with the dresses and tops were an assortment of thick sweaters, faux fur vests and oversized velvet blazers in black, green and navy. Rounding out the collection were Cynthia Vincent shoes and accessories. Where apparel is print-heavy, the shoes and handbags mostly stuck to a palette of blacks and browns and were quite tame in comparison.
