Have You Shopped Fabricly Yet?
(Otis & Maclain)
Those who follow DenimHunt on Twitter, already know that I was able to visit the offices of Fabricly a few weeks ago. Having to go out of town, and the subsequent holiday when I returned, delayed showing you the excitement I felt when learning about their business model and the designers they house. It's so good to be home.
Fabricly (love the name) is an e-boutique that stocks up-and-coming designers from around the world. It's not a new model, but it is poised to be one of the more successful if you gauge the amount of buzz they've gotten in the blogosphere. They also launch collaborative collections with some of these designers for Fabricly-branded apparel.
Like most fashionable folk, I adore my standbys, but I love being able to find new designers with unique design aesthetics that are uncorrupted by the industry's demand for trend-friendly merchandise. So I was like a kid in a candy store when perusing through the racks. The liberal stock of prints was pleasing to the eye and I was able to find some favorites like an oversized black and white polka-dot print by LA-based Otis & Maclain used on an open-backed top and dress. A collection that can also serve as a conversation piece was created by painter, ballerina and stylist Caycee Black. This multi-hyphenate uses her own original paintings as prints on her designs.
Price points for apparel sold on Fabricly range from $45 for an Ay Not Dead tank to $392 for a Caycee Black dress. Because they are constantly on the lookout for new talent, it's best to keep checking back on their site for new, original merchandise. I know I will.
