Models Boogie Down the Runway in Just Fabulous' New Denim Collection
Members only online boutique Just Fabulous held their Style Night event at Skylight Studios in Soho this past Thursday. The invite stated that it would be a fashion show to preview their new collection, however, it was much more than that.
Upon walking in I was asked to take a photo in front of a step and repeat. I almost asked if they'd mistaken me for someone else. But no. This was the start of a night where everyone was treated like a VIP. The space was huge with camera crews everywhere. On one side was a short runway with a live twitter feed projected on the wall next to it. On the other side was a roped off area where mannequins were on display dressed in the different jean styles.
It was a standing room only event and I made sure to find space close to the runway. The show was scheduled to start at 7:00 but by 7:30 we were still waiting. At first I thought 'typical runway show', but then as the lights dimmed, who should sneak into the VIP couches next to the runway? None other than Kimora Lee Simmons. So, yeah, in that sense it was a typical runway show, but that's where the similarities ended.
The models walked out to dance-worthy tunes atypical of the obscure music played at shows during Fashion Week and they took full advantage of it. They bopped and wiggled down the runway in all of the different denim silhouettes. I loved how they were all shapes and sizes and we were able to get an idea of how these jeans would look on all types of figures. They're exuberance made the show so lighthearted and fun that, intentional or not, it kind of reminded me of why I love denim so much. Because it is fun!
At the end of the show, the roped off area was opened and we discovered that all of us were being gifted a pair of Just Fabulous jeans. Dressing rooms were provided for us to try them on and I chose a dark straight leg. I don't own that silhouette and was skeptical of how it might fit but wanted to try something different. It actually fit fantastically. One of the JustFab girls told me to go to the photo area and take a picture with them on, which I did (see below).
Overall, it was a great night. Make sure you visit Justfab.com and snag yourself a pair. At $39 it's a steal.
