CLOSED Spring/Summer 2012 Preview
We already know that color has made it's way into denim, with most major brands offering a small selection of colorful overdyed jeans alongside their traditional indigo offerings. However, never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined an established brand like CLOSED making color the predominant part of their collection for an entire season.
CLOSED's collection could easily be split into four separate groups based on color; the green group, the yellow group, blue group and the red group. Each group has it's own extensive set of sportswear in the same colorways showing this brand is committed to this direction. Traditional indigo-dyes are nothing more than novelties this season.
The most amazing section is the yellow group which can more accurately be described as neon yellow. This is the boldest color yet I've seen offered in denim and will take an equally bold person to wear it. I did find out that such a person exists. An editor of InStyle wore the skinny neon yellow jeans (below) to the Calvin Klein show during New York Fashion Week and apparently got a lot of positive feedback. In my oh so humble opinion, they may be a little difficult to wear for everyone, but if you can pull them off, go for it. My suggestion, pair them with solids or prints in neutral colors for example a white shell or black and white geometric printed top.
