G-Star, Spring/Summer 2012 - Women's
G-Star, known for its industrial denim spirit, continues to make tough masculine notions appealing for women. Spring/Summer 2012 women's collections for G-Star Raw Essentials and G-Star Raw Correct Line merge the label's classic grittiness with fresh feminine cuts.
Managing to update the ubiquitous black leather biker jacket, G-Star offers new shades that while innovative, will not be dated in a few seasons time. The vintage jacket style -- an essential for edgy downtown looks -- is renewed in almost-black navy blue. As the style is also key for men, look for the rhinoceros grey version in the G-Star men's post.
For the Raw Essentials line, G-Star is pushing bib 'n' brace coveralls, heavily abraded and distressed. I've been waiting for overalls to come back, and only hope that G-Star comes out with men's versions soon! The leather-trimmed and -tabbed elasticized suspenders look modern compared to traditional denim braces; they give street appeal to the short suspender jumper dress. A tailored denim blazer pulls the whole Raw Essentials line together, featuring leather accents and a flyaway silhouette.
Key pieces in the G-Star Raw Correct Line include the rusty khaki trench and playsuit coveralls in tan or chambray. For this line, G-Star goes in a safari direction, with telltale colors and accents. The two-in-one tank top (in subtly contrasting white and antique white) and the perforated leather bomber jacket are minimalist and modern.
