G-STAR RAW, Pre Fall 2012 Men's Collection
This season, G-STAR takes a minimalist direction for the men's collection with sharp super-slim fits. My absolute favorite G-STAR style (and the first pair I bought 12 years ago) is back: the Elwood. G-Star head designer Pierre Morisset revolutionized denim in 1996 with the original Elwood. Rugged but trim, the slim leg offers a welcome alternative to baggy workwear options. I hope to see more wash and surface options going forward of the Elwood.
Furthering the label's stark street style, dark aged denims and semi-concealed metal zips define G-STAR's other jean offerings. The Pre Fall 2012 collection creates a unique fusion between street style and tailoring… often with raw Japanese selvedge denim. Denim-on-denim looks are key for the seasons ahead, and I like the denim half pant and refashioned denim shirts for young guys. Giving some color contrast to denim blues while retaining important workwear and military influences, khaki, olive drab, sun-faded tones and bright flight-suit colors update the palette.
