In the Showrooms: ASOS Mens Spring/Summer 2013 Preview

ASOS has been really pushing denim this season and if you've been reading, then you know that makes me really, really happy.

For Spring, ASOS is keeping the silhouette slim to skinny with washes that at first glance seem standard, but upon closer inspection have unique qualities. For example, there was the jean that was woven with black yarn then overdyed blue creating a subtle three dimensional effect. Also a light acid wash on another gray pair of jeans created striated patterns that differed from the typical stonewash. Lastly was a selvage denim jean which at $50 was the most competitively priced selvage jean I'd ever seen. That was pretty much the case with the entire men's collection which starts at $35 for premium quality jeans.

My favorite part of the collection was the men's suiting. The slim cut blazers with matching shorts and far out patterns were reminscent of celebrity stylist Brad Goreski's preferred uniform and for sure will make an impression with the man that keeps GQ and Details displayed on his coffee table. And what's better, they start at $250. A few of the suits were constructed using a 2x1 right hand twill which is the twill weave used to make denim. A pleasant surprise. There were also chambray summer suiting as well as lightweight tweeds.

Last, but not least, I got to preview the ASOS Black x Puma collection which has yet to launch. I won't go into too much detail, but I can tell you with these two companies collaborating, you will not be dissappointed.
