Denim on the Runway: Spring 2014 Menswear: DSquared2

(Source)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

That old cliche can be applied en force to DSquared2's men's presentation. Distressed denim has been a staple of their runway collection season after season with nary a break. Cuffs and carrot legs, paint splatters and tears, abrasions and patches; these elements can be found in any combination, in any given year, at any of their shows.

This could easily be interpreted as a dilatory approach to denim, in spite of all the work that goes into the finishing, due to the lack of change. But it's not. It is instead a brazen disregard for trends and sticking to what your passionate about. Dean and Dan know what their customer wants and although the rest of us, myself included, may be a slave to the latest trends, this duo is going to stick to what works.
