Online MBA has an informative and succinct video on fast fashion and how it impacts the industry and the environment.
Check out the video (it's only about a minute long). Will this impact your decision to shop at these kind of stores? Would you feel guilty if you answered, no?
Left to Right: Baldwin, Aviator Nation, Bespoken, Ernest Alexander
GQ's has chosen their four new Best New Menswear Designers Aviator Nation, Baldwin, Bespoken and Ernest Alexander.
The four Best New Menswear Designers have been chosen by GQ -Aviator Nation, Baldwin, Bespoken and Ernest Alexander. It's alway a treat to see who the lucky designers are and which big brand they will be collaborating with. This year the four designed collection for Gap for the Gap + GQ Best New Menswear Designers in America Collection.
The collection is a combination of surf motifs, 70's stripes and classic menswear themes in a well-rounded medley of button downs, tees, jeans and sweaters. In an unexpected bonus, there's also a line of bags to go with it.
I like it. I think it's going to be well-recieved in Gap stores and will stand out among their regular offerings.

Diesel invited the press to view their Fall Home collection presented in three different showrooms. And it turned out to be a cozy little evening tour of Soho.
Three Italian design companies that seemed to specialize in specific areas like lighting, living and bedroom partnered with Diesel on three collections. My first stop was Foscarini for the lighting collection. Diesel, departing from modern design elements, took inspiration from various musical and industrial elements for pieces like cage drop lighting, drumbox lamps that literally looked like monstrous luminous drums on lamp stands, as well as lamps inspired by vintage headlights.
My second stop was at Scavolini to view the Diesel Social Kitchen. It was a sleek kitchen of greyed wood that managed to look both old world and new world. A bonus were the glasses of Nero di Rosso red wine being served from Diesel's own winery. It was delicious! I have to find out how I can get my hands on a bottle.
Last, I stopped at Moroso to view what I called the Diesel Bedroom. With turntable motifs on glass coffee tables and chairs that evoked the colors of distressed denim, it was literally like seeing the Diesel guy (or gal) transformed into home furnishings.
Enough talk! Visuals are better. Click through the thumbnails below to see the rest of the Home collection. If you're in Soho, stop by the showrooms yourself for a first hand look.
It seems like everyone is obsessed with the camera phone self-portrait, otherwise known as the "Selfie". I blame the iPhone and it's front-facing camera combined with a natural tendency towards narcissism -which only increases ten-fold after that first like on Instagram. In the relatively short time the word has been in existence, not only has it became a regularly used term, thanks to social media, but it also was included in the Oxford Dictionary last month. That's pretty major.
Although, I'm not a proponent of selfies -at least my own (The last thing I need is to be reminded of a date I missed with my clarisonic) I have tried it once or twice...well twice. I have to say the amount of time it takes to get that triumvirate of posing, angle and lighting is absolutely daunting! And enough to put any budding selfie obsession of mine to rest. Or so I thought.
One bored day, when I was bored, trying to fight boredom I decided to browse the app store on my iPhone and came acrossPerfect365. It's described as an app for photo cleanup and makeup. I was skeptical, but the 4.5 star rating and the price, free, was enough to make me give it a try. Which I did. And I was really surprised. It is really good!
It has a face mapping feature that allows you to adjust key points (see below). This is important because it effects how all of the editing works. From there you can erase blemishes, soften skin, add makeup, lengthen eyelashes, thicken brows, raise cheekbones, slim your face. You can even curve your lips into a smile. There are preset features that you can choose from or you can create your own looks. You can go into seriously freaky territory or just smooth and even out your skin tone.
Sooo what was I saying about that budding selfie obsession....

If you follow DenimHunt on Instagram or Facebookthan you know I attended a party thrown by Marciano and W Magazine at the Marciano store in Soho last night.
The event was held to celebrate Marciano's four-page spread in the latest issue of W Magazine. Clothing used in the spread was clearly marked with a "W + Marciano Focus on Fall" tag which I thought was brilliant. Every brand should do something like this to clearly mark an item you see in a magazine or blog, but I digress. The fall collection is full of statement pieces like quilted leather skirts, faux fur jackets, metal belts and cape dresses. And of course it is all reasonably priced. Make sure you head down to your nearest Marciano store to see it for yourself.
In addition to the fabulous fall collection, there was a makeup booth set up by Ellis Faas Cosmetics. I've been all about makeup lately (because I suck at wearing it) and was all about getting a makeover. While I waited, I got a little background info about the company. Ellis Faas is a dutch makeup artist who has worked with the likes of Chanel and Fendi. The majority of her cosmetics come in this seriously cool "bullet" belt akin to machine gun rounds which makes it easier to keep your makeup organized (see image below). Fittingly, Ellis Faas slogan is "Makeup not War". Makeup artist Daniel Alvarez went to town on my face and gave me a seriously hot smoky eye with navy and rose colored cream eyeshadow. Loved it! See my before and after pics below. Just for the record, I'm wearing makeup in the before pic. See what I mean? I'm so bad with makeup.
Straight-cut lenses harken back to the days when concave and convex lenses weren't possible. Visible screw details are sturdy, industrial and decidedly masculine. Cut-out details inspired by zipper pulls. They go by names like Bronson, Sniper, Fat Dexter, Thin Grishin and Metal Attacc. Yes, we are talking about eyewear here, not the cast of The Expendables.
G-Star RAW debuted their eyewear collection last month at their NYFW Nights party at the Highline Hotel earlier this month (see G-Star RAW's New York Fashion Week Nights was a RAW Thriller). And I had a little fun with frames shown on DenimHunt and on Instagram which I know you saw because you're cool like that :-).
The frames come in acetate and metal versions that are sunnies or prescription ready. Flip through the slideshow below to see the full collection.
Milly is celebrating the launch of their new ecommerce site and blog with a limited edition "Sorry for Partying" t-shirt.
The t-shirt is available now on the Milly website for $90. If you're scoffing at the idea of $90 for a plain white tee, just think, Milly is not putting you in anything designers don't wear themselves (see Denim on the Runway: Designer Edition)
