In the Showrooms: Diesel Spring/Summer 2014
Diesel opened their showroom yesterday at their Chelsea office and it was one of the best visits I've had yet. The Diesel design team never dissappoints, but they really did wonders this season with men's and women's collections that, although still maintaining that distinct Diesel aesthetic, offered a variety of wearable options for most any audience.
When you think of the Diesel customer, you think of someone that is so cool, they are above cool. A person that is a little bit rock, a little bit hip hop and a whole lot of edge. This season those elements still exist, but there is something I can't quite put my finger on that makes it seem more accessible to those who don't quite fit those categories -a product that makes you feel a part of the Diesel cool without making you feel like you're trying to be something you're not. I don't know if that was the intention, but regardless, it's a good thing.
This can be seen most evidently in the skinny jeans for women. They came in different rises and a covetable amount of washes and colors that had a sort of tamed edge if you catch my meaning. Color wasn't only a theme in women, however, as the men's collection was a riot of color with Hawaiian prints and acid yellows in shirts and sweaters. If I had to guess I'd say there was actually more color in the men's collection than the women's.
Diesel is also continuing it's Jogg Jean line which has been gaining in popularity. It's a small wonder why. The inside of the jean is a sweatpant fleece which could possibly make these the most comfortable jeans on the planet!
There were three floors of product which included Diesel Black Gold and 55DSL (watch this space..), so I couldn't take as many pictures as I wanted, although I did take quite a few. Unfortunately, for the sake of your computer's load time, I didn't post them all but I did narrow it down to my favorites.
