In the Showrooms: NYDJ
I must say, it's been a pretty exciting Market Month Week this season. Just the other day I noticed that I'd become repetitive during my visits, saying things like, 'Wow, this is new' or 'What was the inspiration behind this'. That's because designers and their teams are playing off of the 'more is more' thing we've seen over the last few seasons in denim and experimenting with new washes.
NYDJ was no exception displaying the most gloriously bright acid-washed jeans (above). It's one thing to go acid-wash, another completely to combine it with the bright colors of past seasons. The combination was nothing short of electric! Especially coming from a brand whose acronym stands for 'Not Your Daughter's Jeans'. On the flip side, there was an awesome dark indigo boyfriend jean with mega cuffs that reminded me of jeans worn by women of the 1950's (below). The best part about this style, other than the silhouette, was that although they looked liked raw denim, they were actually super light and super soft.
