Vogue Gioiello Celebrates Eli Halili
Last night Vogue Gioiello held an event celebrating the grand opening of Eli Halili's Soho boutique for his eponymous jewelry line. What a night! The space, limited in size, was packed with attendees and there was barely room to move. And this is where going somewhere solo has it's benefits. I was able to weave through the crowd to view the collection more readily than those who had friends in tow.
The handmade collection can be described as beautifully coarse with uneven stone pendants on chain links and matte gold rings that embrace uneveness. Jewelry ranged from necklaces of leather straps to renaissance portraiture on oversized medallions of gilt gold and beading, but no matter what the direction, the central themes of uneven textures and mixing elements remained.
Adding to the presentation was the design of the boutique itself. Patina'd walls with hebrew lettering hovering over the jewelry cases marked the first floor, while a narrow spiral staircase led to a cozy studio on the bottom floor with leather bound books, throw pillows and other ecoutrements from Halili's many travels.
If you are in Soho stop in and take a look around.
