Lily Cole x EJF Bespoke T-Shirt

Lily Cole, t-shirt, Selfridges, EJF Environmental Justice Foundation

Model/actress/cherub Lily Cole is done just modeling clothes. She's making them now. Starting with a t-shirt and a good cause.

The t-shirt was created in support of the Environmental Justice Foundation's (EFJ) "There's No Place Like Home" campaign for climate refugees (read more about it here). Everything about the t-shirt is ethical from the 100% organic cotton to the environmentally-friendly production process. Even the graphic is inspired by Darwin and his famed Theory of Evolution.

"The image is a play on Darwin's drawing of evolution, trying to call attention to the fact that by threatening the environment - our global home - we genuinely threaten our species' own existence,' says Cole. "It's a sobering, but I do not believe unrealistic, thought. "

True to her principles, Cole personally oversaw the production of the shirt to ensure environmental and ethical standards were met and according to EFJ, the t-shirt has a 90% smaller carbon footprint than the average t-shirt. That's incredibly significant considering how many t-shirts are sold each year. If most brands were to adopt this production process imagine the impact.

The shirt is available exclusively at Selfridges and retails for 35GBP or $58; a pretty cheap price when considering the alternative.
