#InspoSeries The Yellow Clad Men of the Milan Runway
Remember back in the early aughts when men embraced pink in a big way? They were all pink button downs, pink baseball caps, some even wore pink sneakers, all with no hint of threat to their masculinity. The ubiquity of pink was a rare moment in men's fashion so it's not surprising that it's taken so long for men to embrace uber-feminine colors again.
Yellow seems to be the color of choice this time around. As a matter of fact, it was impossible to ignore on the runways in Milan. From trousers to man bags, from canary to pastels, designers made yellow safe for men everywhere. And made it that much easier for us to emulate their looks.

SWEATSHIRTS AND SWEATERS
Other than the black trimmed offering by Andrea Incontri, tops in varying shades and tints of yellow could easily be seen as unisex. Take the mustard yellow leather tee by Les Hommes or the slim pale crew-neck by Jil Sander, both are genderless and would appeal to men and women. Imagine a future where you and your guy are sharing the same shirts. It could happen... Maybe.
BOMBERS, BLAZERS AND PARKAS
Surprisingly, yellow works just as well on a classic blazer as it does on a sporty jacket. So confident are designers in this color that even traditional yellow rain slickers are considered important enough to send down the runway. But the best thing about yellow in outerwear is not just the color, but the fact that you can take it off. For guys who don't want to fully commit, this is they way to go. And when they take it off, we can slip it on. ;-)
TROUSERS AND SHORTS
Stores like Uniqlo and H&M have made it easier for men to embrace pastels when wearing shorts. And many guys have gotten the hang of pairing them with the appropriate tops and footwear. So if you're worried about wearing yellow pants...don't. The same formula of crisp cotton tees, denim button-downs or dress shirts should work just fine. Now as for us ladies, I'm looking forward to seeing some pleated cropped pants in this magnificent color trend up and make it into my favorite stores *hint hint*
MY YOU HAVE A LOVELY ACCENT...COLOR
Surprisingly, yellow works exceedingly well when used as an accent color for neutrals. And showing just a sliver of it is, dare I say it, sexy?
THE MAN TOTE...MOTES ANYONE?
As man bags become more and more acceptable (even my all-guy boyfriend is considering one) it's only natural that they graduate from the usual grays, blacks and browns. Yellow may be a bit extreme for the average fellow dipping his feet in the man bag waters for the first time but then, why wade when you can cannonball.
