Wearing Denim With a Purpose
When Guess asked me to participate in Denim Day to support victims of sexual assault, of course I said yes...
1 in 6 women has been the victim of a rape or attempted rape in her lifetime. That means there are probably few people who haven't been affected by sexual violence whether personally or through a personal connection to a survivor.
Peace Over Violence's Denim Day was inspired by the Italian Parliamentarian's who wore denim on the steps of the Supreme Court after the overturning of a rape conviction in 1999. Since then it has evolved into an international, award winning, education campaign against sexual violence.
I know you are wearing jeans today. Most of us wear jeans everyday. So since you're already wearing them, I nominate you denimhunters to wear them with a purpose -to stop rape.
