Bill Bellamy, Giada De Laurentiis Are Just a Few of the Celebs That Came Out for Hudson Jean's KIDSTOCK Festival

Bill-bellamy

I had an amazing time this past sunday at the HUDSON Jeans KIDSTOCK festival. As the west coast affiliate for Denimhunt.com, my denim voyaging has led me to events by brands that are fashionable but also passionate about making a difference. The One Voice Scholarship program is very dear to my heart. This year I have been teaching engineering to high school students and one of my own students is a beneficiary of these efforts as a One Voice scholar!

I had an amazing time chatting up HUDSON Jeans staff. There is an awesome new range of denim out for children. However, the uber cool t-shirts seen below were only available to KIDSTOCK festival goers. These shirts are fab and I admit, I thought about purchasing one and wearing as a shirt because I am pretty slim! : ) The festival was a dream event for kids and fun for adults as well. I snagged a cupcakes from the make a cupcake booth and had a blast just taking in how much everyone was enjoying the activities! From hand squeezed lemonade stands to tasty sliders— delicious food and snacks were one of the highlights of the day.

Camera Stalking: UNICEF Next Generation Photo Benefit at Milk Studios

IMG_3727

UNICEF held a photo benefit at Milk Studios this weekend and while attendees admired the beautiful photography and bid on their favorites, we couldn't help but admire that, no matter the occasion, New Yorkers will always find a way to show off some of the best street style in the world.

So of couse I whipped out my trusty, dusty iPhone 5 and did a little photography of my own. From floral medleys on gals and vivid color on guys, we captured the best denim looks of the night.

Vogue and Phillip Bloch Host the Opening of NYDJ New Shop-in-Shop in Bloomingdales

IMG_1579

I've been spending a lot of time at Bloomingdales lately and sadly it's not to shop. A string of events from the launch of BPD Washhouse to a 2AM Club mini-concert promoting a new collab between Sportiqe and ESPN have had me running back and forth to the famed department store.

Yesterday evening Vogue Magazine and famed celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch hosted a fete celebrating the opening of NYDJs new shop-in-shop within Bloomingdales. The shop is situated on the third floor and the space was almost unmaneuverable as many fashion folk came out to enjoy the festivities and hopefully get a chance to chat up Mr. Bloch. There were a crush of cameras around him so all we could do was stare but it was still enjoyable nonetheless.

The shop itself is clean and pristine. It's set up as any other sportswear line except, obviously, there is an abundance of denim. Hanging on the racks, folded on shelves, displayed on bars it is a veritable denim feast and customers are going to enjoy shopping it.

Camera Stalking: Scotch & Soda NYC Store Opening

IMG_2951

Camera Stalking (or asking people to pose for my iPhone camera) is one of my favorite things. You just can't beat streetstyle for inspiration. Last night my new fave brand Scotch & Soda had an event to mark the opening of their Union Square store and I loved how all the staff was head to toe in the brand. I tell you what, Scotch & Soda knows their way around a print. It was a packed house to say the least, but I got some pretty good shots and some pretty good cocktails. Yummy. Click through and enjoy.

Camera Stalking: Larry Clark Stuff Exhibition @ Milk Studios

LarryClarkeStuff1

Milk Gallery at Milk Studios hosted an exhibition last night called Larry Clark Stuff featuring, literally, the stuff of indie film director Larry Clark. If you've ever watched a Larry Clark film (Kids, check) than you can get an idea of what kind of stuff he has.

The walls were lined with Fuct t-shirts and collectible skateboards that date all the way back to the 1980s. Movie posters from his films took center stage along with many unabashedly NSFW graphic photos. Of course, at an event like this, the hipsters were out in force...and so was our camera.

Click on the images for a closer look at who we chose to stalk.

Gender Reversal: These two ladies were tame in their matching wide-leg trousers and classic pink shells. On the flip side, this guy went all out with a pair of pink jeans complete with the best accessory a guy can get. His buddy in a matching pink shirt.

COTTON INCORPORATED x PEOPLE STYLEWATCH: Six Fashion Influencers' Favorite Cotton Pieces

Carly Cristman Sweater

Leading up to "Cotton's 24 Hour Runway Show", COTTON INCORPORATED and PEOPLE STYLEWATCH just kicked off their "Road to the Runway", which aims to highlight America's diverse street style. To capture and share the best looks, Cotton has partnered with six Fashion Influencers from across the country to scout their respective regions for the best cotton (and often denim) styles. Cotton recently asked five of them what their favorite cotton pieces are. Read up on each's fashion beliefs:

Keiko Lynn Cotton Dress

KEIKO LYNN by Keiko Lynn (Northeast)

I love cotton day dresses! Even though they are really meant for the summer, I wear them throughout the year. When it gets cold, I like starting with a cotton dress as a base layer so you can add as many layers on top while still remaining streamlined and not getting too bulky.

Mattieology Camo Jacket

MATTIEOLOGIE by Mattie James (Southeast)

My favorite cotton piece right now, hands down, is my camo jacket. When the whole camo trend started, I was a little apprehensive about it. Then I realized it can be easily incorporated into different styles and cities. I got my camo jacket from the vintage shop and I love that it's an actual traditional US Army jacket. I only later discovered that it is 100% cotton, so that was really surprising. It's a great neutral staple. I love it with a pair of jeans, trousers, a big colorful scarf or with the sleeves rolled up.

SugarLaws White Sweater

SUGARLAWS by Katy Atlas (South)

The thing I wear the most out of my closet is a white cable-knit pullover. It's lightweight and the perfect thing to put on over shorts for running errands during the day or wearing out [at night]. It's great because it is machine-washable so I end up wearing it all the time.

Carly Cristman Pants

CARLY CRISTMAN by Carly Cristman (Midwest)

My all-time favorite is a grey sweatshirt covered in sequins. It's great because the sequins steal the show so you don't need to heavily style it. My other favorite is a pair of ivory pants with a black stripe, tuxedo-style, running down the side. It's a different take on a classic pair of jeans because it adds a modern twist.

Urban Weeds Waxed Bag 1

URBAN WEEDS by Lisa Warninger (Northwest)

Here in the Northwest, I have been seeing a lot of waxed canvas. It's definitely something that I am really drawn to because of the unique finish. I bring my Wood & Faulk waxed canvas bag everywhere with me, especially when it is raining. It's great for keeping my camera dry and I always get compliments on it. People always think that cotton isn't a weather-friendly fabric, but waxed canvas is awesome for the Northwest because we get so much rain. I see a lot of waxed canvas raincoats, accessories and bags.

Blue Jeans from the 17th Century to Today

Centraal 6

This season, the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, Netherlands brings together 350 years of denim history. Conceptually displayed as an interactive 100-meter long timeline, the exhibit details the rich history of our beloved material.

Early artifacts include classic paintings and old sample books dating back to the 18th century. Modern art photography and haute couture designs by Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Maison Martin Margiela and Yves Saint Laurent elevate connotations regarding fabrics, while archival examples by Levi’s and Lee highlight still-relevant heritage ideals. An exhibition book will soon be available at Tenue de Nîmes.
