Thinking About Camouflage for Spring?

Who A.U, camouflage, jeans, cargo pockets, best jeans for spring 2014

Camouflage is definitely in season. It seems this spring I can't walk outside my apartment without seeing it in coats, pants and even shoes. This time around, however, camouflage is coming in all manner of shapes and colors, not just the traditional green woodland pattern of the past. Therefore, when my friend Erin and I were given the chance to test out a pair of Who.A.U. camouflage cargos in throwback green we couldn't help but have a little fun trying to see if she could, well, camouflage herself. Unfortunately we didn't even have an urban jungle to contend with, so we made do with some office plants.

Adapt and overcome folks. Adapt and overcome.

Check out the rest of the pics of Erin going commando (not the kind) in the office after the jump...

Joe's Jeans Water Proof White Jeans Stand Up to the Test

1D274905655404-today-white-jeans-140418-split.blocks_desktop_large

Joe's Jeans has been getting a lot of mainstream press over its latest offering – a collection of stain repellent white jeans. The line is fittingly called Spotless and utilizes "an innovative wash treatment that repels spills". In other words, a water repellent. When friends ask my advice on how to keep white jeans clean, I always recommend Sof Sole Water Proofer. It's a water repellent spray sold at DSW. I've used it on coats, jeans, canvas sneakers, you name it. It's a highly effective water and stain repellent. Therefore, when I was tipped off about Joe's Jeans Spotless I had two thoughts -one, why has no one thought of this before and two, at just under $6.00 wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy the spray?

Joe's Jeans boasts on their e-commerce site that the jeans can resist liquids like soda, coffee, wine and water which various media outlets have been happily putting to the test. Online videos from the Daily Mail and the Today Show feature staffers happily pouring all manner of liquids on the white jeans. My favorite reaction so far has been that of Tamron Hall of the Today Show who had to be coaxed repeatedly into pouring a cup of coffee on Natalie Morales. Her reaction was spot on because that's how many of us feel about stains on white jeans or anything white for that matter. Just one little speck can send a person into a whirlpool of Tide pens, vinegar and bleach all so you can drop it off at the dry cleaner anyway.

There will be none of that with these jeans. They really do repel liquid effectively. Test after test showed liquids beading up and running right off the jeans like glass. In some cases the liquid was sopped off with a paper towel, but still the same result. I have to admit, water repellent spray although great, will not have such a drastic effect, nor will it last as long. The treatment Joe's Jeans uses is supposed to last up to 20 washes. If you consider that with this technology you won't need to wash as often, that could turn out to be quite a long time.

Now can we find a way to add this treatment to all our clothes?

Get the Look: Emmy Rossum's Pink and Denim Fusion

Emmy Rossum, DL1961 instasculpt, J Brand Aiah moto jacket, get the look, get the look for less, best jeans for spring 2014, celebrity

Emmy Rossum's free-spirited, ladylike style is rather easy to emulate. The Shameless actress prefers simple, effortless pieces to create her looks, which she then tops off with a blaze of color like this fuschia moto jacket by J brand (above) with lips to match, or a hard to find accessory.

Emmy is a flirty dress type of girl when she's out and about, quite the opposite from her character in the show. It's nice to see her translating her personal style around a pair of dark indigo, cigarette leg jeans. So much so, that I wanted to recreate her look.

Scroll down to see what Emmy's wearing for some spring inspiration and shopping ideas. If her pieces are a little too hard on your wallet, don't worry. Scroll down even further and get Emmy's look for less.

Need it! Want it! Have to Have It!: Three Ways to Wear This Fab Anthropologie Blouse

anthropologie, Brecon Chambray Buttondown, denim shirt, blouse spring 2014

I don't often shop in Anthropologie. It's a great store. I always go inside the 5th Avenue location when I walk past it. However, I'm rarely able to find something that fits into my personal style; with the exception of a beautiful maroon dress I bought several years ago which I still love.

Erin Shows Off Her Wintery Style in DL1961 Slim Boyfriend Jeans #thejetsettingjean

Slim boyfriend jeans are always presented as a spring jean and are guaranteed to be promoted in lookbooks and ads for that season. Styling them usually consists of pairing them with a slim tee and flat shoes or sneakers, or dressing them up with a blazer and pumps. Basically anything to show off the ankle and feminize the roomy silhouette.

Erin, an Art Therapist based out of Brooklyn, posed for us in a pair of slim boyfriend jeans by DL1961 at Rockefeller Center. I love how she styled them. Erin eschewed the flats and heels for a pair of supple leather boots. A practical choice I might add considering how cold it was. I loved how Erin tucked the jeans in at times and at other times untucked them showing off the cropped length with the boots as reference. Brilliant!

In between shooting, we admired the Christmas tree and the Swarovski replica of the star atop it; a rare thing to do for native New Yorkers. We tend to stay out of heavy tourist areas.

See more pics of Erin showing off her Brooklyn style in front of some of these famous Christmas landmarks after the jump.

Erin wore a pair of DL1961 'Riley' jeans, an Anthropologie blouse (similar), Frye boots (similar), a key charm necklace from Catbird (similar) and a DKNY coat (similar).

Levis Red Archive Could Be the Most Expensive Jeans This Year

Levi's RED Archive, jeans, denim, most expensive jeans
(L) BLUE PRINT DENIM JACKET | (R) COMFORT RIGID DENIM JEANS

Levi's has reintroduced the first Levi's RED collection in seven years and it does not come cheap. The most expensive item is the 'Low Crotch Twisted Jeans' (below) which run a cool $1458 and the least expensive are the t-shirts at $279.

...pause for quick up and down scroll and scrutiny of all Levi's RED Archive items here...

...additional pause for indignant reaction here...

In defense of the price, Levi's RED is a premium concept  dedicated to reinventing the iconic Levi's 5-pocket style with new forms and aesthetics. Since it's debut in 1999, there have only been seven collections, Levi's RED Archive being the eighth. The pieces in the current iteration were selected from the first ever Levi's RED release called Twisted RED, a collection that marked the turning point in reinventing the 5-pocket.

Essentially, this collection is meant to be viewed as a celebration of art and design in denim and will appeal to those who consider themselves denimheads or denim connoisseurs. They for sure will appreciate the craftsmanship of the product and the heritage aspect. So if you're one of those, these jeans can be purchased at online boutique LN-CC.

If you haven't already, see more pics of the Levi's RED Archive collection after the jump...

Prepare to Be Emerald Mesmerized in Pantone's Color of the Year

So I went to see Oz the Great and Powerful this weekend and for the past few days I've been all about emeralds and rubies. So much so, that I was inspired to put together a two part, two day set on polyvore based on the precious gems. The first set is all about the emerald. When has green ever looked so vibrant than in the Emerald City of Oz. Whether it's the original Wizard of Oz or Oz the Great and Powerful we can't help but be captivated by it's brilliance. Be it by coincidence or by design, even the color powers-that-be at Pantone have decided that Emerald is the Color of the Year. So in 2013, prepare to be Emerald Mesmerized.

Today's Closet Crave: Hudson Jeans' Leeloo Super Skinny Crop in Vice Versa

Hudson leeloo

Hudson leeloo side

So far this season we've seen prints, pastels, florals, colorful dyes and other types of whimsy, but too much of a good thing always leads to what? The answer is the coveting of contrasts. I bet you were expecting me to say a stomachache. Well, no. Because I still love whimsy. It's a mood brightener expecially when worn. However, once a trend becomes pervasive and inescapable we start coveting the inverse of that trend. That's why today's Closet Crave is Hudson's Leeloo jean in Vice Versa. The pristine white jean has a thick black tuxedo stripe that inks down from a similar belt at the waist. The overall look creates intensity in what is otherwise minimalist colorblocking. Not to mention the black stripe elongates the leg and is straight. up. sexy!
