We get emails all the time from people that have specific questions about denim; whether it's about a certain style or specific brand, or what's the best fit for a particular body type. We read every single one and it never ceases to amaze us how knowledgeable our readers are and how serious they are in expanding that knowledge. As we all know, denim has moved beyond workwear apparel into a full blown lifestyle that has its own, dare I say it, culture. The plethora of styles, washes and finishings available are mind-blowing and while some pairs may break the bank, the workmanship that goes into producing them justify the price. Even those few holdouts that turned their noses up at the price tag when premium jeans became the standard several years ago have become true believers, thanks to that all important characteristic that you only get in the finest pair of jeans...fit.
There are several denim silhouettes that haven't yet reached the popularity of the skinny, but are still set to make an impact and one of them is the flare. This isn't the style's first time around the block, for as we all know, trends tend to recycle, but this time it's coming to us with a lot more variety. Check out some of the looks we found inspirational.
Our fellow denim bloggers tipped us off to a new fit guide, found at eLuxury. Featuring specific guidelines for some of the best styles, from some of our favorite brands. Earlier this month, we suggested another way to find your best denim fit through Glam. Now there is no excuse for the wrong size...and no excuse not to buy another pair for the season!
One of our favorite stores is teaming up once again with one of our favorite brands to address the number one concern in buying denim: fit.
This Saturday, March 8, from 12-5pm, pop into Owl's Lab where one of J Brand's own fit specialists will be on hand to help you shimmy into the perfect skinnies, wide legs, and every style in between.
If that's not enough incentive, every shopper that picks up a pair of jeans will receive 100% organic cotton J Brand tote. Still not enough? The entire store is 10% off.

Evisu recently launched their Dirty Dozen +1 project in which the same pair of jeans is worn by a new owner each month. The project starts with a pair of selvege Evisu jeans, hand painted with the traditional seagull logo (see the YouTube below.) They've started in New York with Chicken (above) and New Jersey with denimphile Almondcrush. By the end of 2008 the jeans will have traveled to Germany, England, Singapore, and back to their home in Japan.

Given last night's late night festivities at the opening of Supper Club's New York chapter, we needed something to take the edge off our early morning. Poking around at some of our favorite denim retailers, we noticed the prevalence of a trend we participate in more frequently than we should admit: unisex jeans. With girls stealing boys' jeans and boys stealing girls' jeans, labels like April 77 (above,) Cheap Monday, Tripp, and Levi's have finally gotten it right--all for one, one for all!
Yes, these jeans are usually very slim fitting, but are cut in the perfect middle-ground proportions to keep both sexes happy campers. Our everyday jeans are from Tripp. We've stocked up on their Jimmy Jean in just about every color and pattern thanks to legendary Jimmy Webb of Trash & Vaudeville for whom the jeans are named.
We're also big fans of Levi's recently launched unisex collection, especially the bondage-influenced styles we saw at the Damien Hirst show in September.
If you're looking for something a little more European, check out April 77 and Cheap Monday. Of course, all the great style icons, such as Charlotte Gainsbourg, have been rockin' Dior Homme's jeans for quite some time. Though technically not unisex, there's no arguing that almost as many women wear the collection as men.
