Flying Horse Denim Shirts for Men

Jeans and tropical floral prints are going to be standard for men this spring and new brand Flying Horse has managed to merge both by bleaching out the floral prints on denim button-downs. This look will be so much more palatable for guys who want to try the trend but are fearful of saturated prints.

Although this particular item is my favorite, there's quite an array of denim shirts and cotton tees to chose from.

Lee Jeans 125th Anniversary Collection is a Work of Art

Before I go into the details of the collection I must first openly apologize to Lee Jeans. I apologize because I loved you back in the day. That iconic leather patch was a symbol of cool in my New Jersey neighborhood and many kids made it a game of ripping off other kid's Lee patches for sport. But something happened between my childhood and the present where you just fell off my radar. The fact that I write almost exclusively about denim makes this fact even more pronounced. So I apologize, because after seeing the release of your 125th Anniversary collection, I realize how incredibly ignorant I've been and that will never, Ever, happen again.

#InspoSeries The Yellow Clad Men of the Milan Runway

Remember back in the early aughts when men embraced pink in a big way? They were all pink button downs, pink baseball caps, some even wore pink sneakers, all with no hint of threat to their masculinity. The ubiquity of pink was a rare moment in men's fashion so it's not surprising that it's taken so long for men to embrace uber-feminine colors again.

Yellow seems to be the color of choice this time around. As a matter of fact, it was impossible to ignore on the runways in Milan. From trousers to man bags, from canary to pastels, designers made yellow safe for men everywhere. And made it that much easier for us to emulate their looks.

SWEATSHIRTS AND SWEATERS

Other than the black trimmed offering by Andrea Incontri, tops in varying shades and tints of yellow could easily be seen as unisex. Take the mustard yellow leather tee by Les Hommes or the slim pale crew-neck by Jil Sander, both are genderless and would appeal to men and women. Imagine a future where you and your guy are sharing the same shirts. It could happen... Maybe.

#InspoSeries London Men's Spring 2015 Shows

With London ending and Milan just revving up, the Mens Spring/Summer 2015 shows are in full swing. Men's runway is a great source of inspiration even for those of us that prefer the girlier side of things because, let's face it, menswear is inspired by womenswear is inspired by menswear is inspired by womenswear is inspired by...well, you get it.

I've rounded up a few of my favorite trends from the London runway such as DIY patches and fancy bomber jackets. Although all of these looks were made for men, they would work so well on us don't you think?

Scroll below for some spring/summer inspo and check back for a roundup of the Milan and Paris shows.

CULOTTES

I wouldn't call them culottes to his face, but we women know that's exactly what they are. The light two-toned version by Common is my favorite, but the other two styles show just how versatile this look can be for both men and women.

Esquire TV's Lucky Bastards Recap

Rocco Caffiarelli Bpd washouse bill curtain lucky bastards esquire network
"Lucky Bastard" Rocco Cafferelli meets with BPD Washhouse to discuss his new denim line

Confession, I've never watched an episode of Esquire Network's Lucky Bastards. If it wasn't for my friend Bill Curtain of BPD Washhouse being featured in one of the storylines this episode, I probably wouldn't have even been aware of it. No disrespect to Esquire, it's just, I'm a woman, so why would I. Plus, I haven't been watching much reality tv lately anyway. Be that as it may, after last night's episode, I was reminded of how fun it can be to watch some of these reality soap operas. Especially when you've got a bunch of guys acting like a bunch of, well, guys and even if some most of the situations seem a bit contrived.

Below are some of the highlights from last night and believe me, you reaaally want to read this...

The Lucky Bastards Visit BPD Washhouse Tonight on Esquire TV

Our friends over at BPD Washhouse are going to be featured tonight on Esquire Network Television (yes, from the "Esquire Magazine"), as the storyline for the reality show Lucky BastardsLucky Bastards. Ha! What a name. But so apropros.

This is how Esquire describes the show;

"After years of friendship, six friends are right where they started: together and taking advantage of every opportunity New York City has to offer. Now businessmen, privileged ne’er-do-wells and even a prince (seriously—one of them is an actual prince), their dynamic remains the same. The bachelors of Lucky Bastards won’t let each other get away with anything, but they’ll also never let each other down. They just want to have fun. With their friends. And preferably quite a few beautiful women."

From the trailer, it looks as if Bill Curtain, owner of BPD, is giving one of the guys advice on how to launch a denim line. I have to say, they came to the right stuff. Bill really knows his sh*t and BPD happens to be the only wash house on the east coast.

The episode airs tonight at 10pm.

Hardy Amies’s Modern Take on Military for Fall

“A man should look as if he had bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care and then forgotten all about them.”
- Hardy Amies, 1964

It’s a good quote… I try to abide by it, and am relatively successful. Hardy Amies said that in the 1960s, a decade of great generational divide. The youth movement was questioning just about everything created by the generation before it, including Western politics, the Vietnam War, its resulting draft lottery, as well as the music, style and cultural norms of the times. Also stating, “I am not sure that the young man today does not know more than his elders,” Amies understood that the future lay in the strong hands of youth, yet also recognized that some things, namely a man’s desire for casual expression, was universal and timeless. Serving as “a bridge between youth and maturity,” Amies and the Savile Row house he founded forged a common ground of heritage and future that still holds up today.
