William Rast Spring/Summer 2010 Lookbook

We were able to get our hands on the William Rast Spring/Summer 2010 Lookbook and of course we had to share it with you. We are usually leery of celebrity-backed brands but William Rast has evolved quite nicely over the past few seasons because what they lack in innovation, they more than make up for in styling.

Our favorite is their use of denim on denim for both men and women. There are some who are still hesitant about this trend, but with all of the denim options other than jeans, this is a look that may have staying power this time around. Also be sure to check out the fringe for men. Interesting.

Recession Denim Teams Up With Feed the Children

It's a good day when we get to talk about philanthropy and environmental safe practices, and so far we're having a good week!

Recession Denim has recently teamed up with Feed the Children to help provide food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who have suffered greatly across the country due to the recession. The company recently donated 300 pairs of fleece leggings from the Fall collection and also donated proceeds of their holiday sales to Feed The Children’s Truck Sponsorship. The Truck Sponsorship gives back to the communites by sponsoring a truckload of food and personal hygiene products to families in need.

“The inspiration behind Recession Denim is that an amazing pair of jeans should be available to everyone, regardless of their budget,” says Daniella Siri, founder of Recession Denim.  “Now when they buy a pair of Recession Jeans, they will also be helping children and families across America who are suffering because of the current economy."

Recession Denim retails for $85 - $120 and can be found at Bloomingdales and various boutiques across the US.

One of Asia's Largest Denim Manufacturers Awarded WWF's LCMP Gold Label

WWF logo
This may be old news to some but its still worth a hearty mention. One of Asia's largest denim manufacturers, Zhongshan Yida Apparel LTD, owned by the Hong Kong-based Crystal Group, was very recently awarded the World Wildlife Federation's LCMP Gold Label

LCMP stands for Low Carbon Manufacturing Programme and is an accreditation that assesses the following: carbon intensity/carbon footprint reduction, greenhouse gas management practices and technology processes. Companies that apply and are awarded accreditation are giving one of four ratings; Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The Gold Label is given to those companies "that have implemented a good greenhouse gas management system and are achieving some best-practice energy efficiency levels in their activities".

Crystal Group aims to be a forerunner in environmental protection and awareness in Asia and has always been socially responsible. They are one of the founding members of the Sustainable Fashion and Business Consortium and the Zhongshan Yida Apparel factory was built using green fundamentals such as water recycling and energy saving production equipment.

This is a step in the right direction for the continent of Asia and with companies like Crystal Group setting the example others are sure to follow suit.

The Jegging by Robb & Hugo

One of the things we love most about the denim industry is that there are so many categories, innovations, styles and uses for the fabric. This gives us and our fellow denim bloggers plenty to talk about and leaves room for many to enter the market, keeping the industry fresh with their own take on the fabric.

Case in point, knitwear brand, Robb & Hugo are entering the denim market for Spring 2010 using one of the most talked about new trends, the jegging. Knitwear designers, get to work with comfy materials, so its no surprise that Robb & Hugo aimed to give their take on the jegging a soft texture, lightweight feel and, of course, a great fit. Giving the Gift of Denim

DRDPitch

(Divine Rights of Denim retails for $80 at Macys)

The holiday season is slowly coming to a end, but since when do you need an excuse to shop. If you're anything like us, gift shopping consists of the "one for you, one for me" variety, with the "one for me" part lasting all year round. Of course, without question we're going to say the best gift idea is a great pair of jeans. After all, this is DenimHunt

Here's a little secret. When others ask us what we want, we usually push the limits and ask for the most expensive pair we think we can get someone to open their wallet for. However, when we are buying for ourselves, we tend to be a little bit more economical. Shhh!

With that said, as much as we love those uber-pricey jeans, big shout out to those that keep it recession-friendly (and those that go on sale after the holidays). Definitely looking forward to the New Year and a several new pairs of jeans.
