Need It! Want It! Have to Have These Maison Scotch Patchwork Jeans

Maison Scotch "Petit Ami - Blue Edition" - $189.00 When the patchwork trend came about a couple of seasons ago I loved it….but on everyone else, not me. I would describe my personal style as classic with a bit of an edge and I felt the look leaned a little too far on the edge side…

In the Showrooms: DL1961’s Colorful Boyfriend Styles and Two-toned 90’s Jeans

DL1961 is seriously bringing it. At their showroom I was able to preview slim boyfriend jeans in colors outside of the usual distressed indigo (above). I love the idea of wearing gray boyfriend jeans or maybe even pink. It makes them new again and proves that there's so much  more design-wise that can be done with them. I've been going through a loose fitting jeans phase lately and can't wait to try these out.

Boyfriend shorts are becoming a staple and most everyone includes them in their lines these days. I was taken aback, however, by the athletic-style short shorts in pale indigo. Notches on the side were reminiscent of running shorts and they looked almost as comfortable. The sportswear trend is huge, but still hasn't made much headway in denim. This could be the beginning of some new silhouettes.

An interesting find in the showroom were the skinny jeans with top to bottom paneling in faux suede or just a darker denim. It's an idea brought back from the '90s that I thought would never make a comeback. Well, never say never as they say. The paneling was so soft matching the texture of the jeans and they are sure to be heavenly to wear. These won't hit stores till fall, but I'm certain they will be a hit with the trendy set.

Get the Look: Emmy Rossum’s Pink and Denim Fusion

Emmy Rossum is a flirty dress type of girl with a ladylike, free-spirited style that is effortless and unfussy. We don’t often see her in jeans outside of her hit show, but even in a pair of dark blue pair of cigarette-legs she still manages to let her personal style shine through. So much so, I couldn’t resist recreating her look. Then I recreated her look for less.

I’m in Love. D-iD I <3 You

I'm in love! No seriously, I'm in love. D-iD's spring collection is so on point. It has just enough art to be interesting for fashion plates, yet is subdued enough for the average jeans lover.

There's the denim shirt with some kind of braided/mesh effect that adds a lot of dimension and texture (below). I just want to touch it. On the flip side the silhouette is basic and the color traditional. So cool. That's not the only fancy surface though. There's a raised dot texture thing going on on a pair of sky blue skinnies which adds enough interest to make your friends wonder where you found them. And of course there's the touching.  (pic #13 below). And then the coated skinnies (above). So supple, it looks like leather but is probably much more breathable. You'll want to touch that as well.

The diamond quilt pattern from their debut collection is still present on a few styles (see The Lost Pics: D-iD Airstream Trailer and Harlequin Jeans), but there's also an update. I can't quite describe the texture but luckily there's a picture (below). Quilting is fun, but can be difficult to wear with anything other than basics, so this updated version is much more versatile I think.

There's a nice helping of standbys too such as boyfriend jeans, crops and skinnies, but if you want some textural touching temptation to choose from there's plenty. Maybe that's why I'm in love.

I would definitely put D-iD on my list of the best jeans for spring as far as brands go. What do you think? Scroll down and take a look.

Picking My Favorites From the GUESS Spring 2014 Lookbook

Here it is! We saw it in the showroom (see Fun With GUESS & Marciano) and now we get to see the GUESS woman styled to perfection in the spring 2014 lookbook. This time around I have a whole list of favorites and with the look numbers on the images it should be easy to find them.

My top pick is the skinny jumper (Look 10). So many brands default to a boyfriend style so it's nice to see it go slim and sexy. The cuffs, however, keep it down to earth. My number two pick is the denim moto vest (Look 15). It's another slim item that is usually oversized and for me is perfect for shorts. I can't quite visualize wearing it with jeans yet, but if the style takes off, who knows. The slick black sport shorts are my third (Look 19). No reason for it. I just like them.

Unfortunately one of my favorite looks from the showroom isn't in the lookbook like the lumberjack check skinnies, although they are available in the shorts style (Look 6). Bummer. I was looking forward to seeing this one styled.

So tell me. Are you putting your spring looks together?

NYDJ Spring 2014 Lookbook

Just one more month until spring hits stores. Seems too soon doesn't it? Like Christmas decorations before Holloween. But before you know it, the holiday season will be over, the weather will be less cold and you'll begin to realize how tired you are of rotating your winter clothing.

I got to preview NYDJs extensive spring 2014 collection last month (see In the Showrooms: NYDJ) and now got my hands on the lookbook. This is just a snapshot of their offerings as there was a ton more in the showroom, but some of my favorites were included like the sky blue skinny jeans (below) and the tweed jacket (above)
