Trench coats, parkas and dusters. Denim outerwear has officially reached high fashion status.
Denim Pants and trousers were a staple on the runway this season, but you don’t have to wait till fall to scare these looks. Shop some of your favorite runway trends now.
Market month is in full swing, but I finally have a lull in the rush to and from showrooms to update you on everything I've seen, starting with American Eagle.
Spring 2015 is definitely going to be one of American Eagle's most popular seasons. The retailer offers the usual denim streetwear and music festival gear, but new to the lineup are the Navajo print blanket coats for women. If the idea of buying anything other than the basics from the retailer doesn't appeal to you, I assure you that American Eagle's version of the popular trend will fit easily next to it's more luxurious counterparts.
Men can look forward to the return of baja pullovers in traditional styles and updated prints. Bajas are throwbacks to the late '80's and are more than due for a comeback, but even though American Eagle markets the baja for men, the style is traditionally unisex and would go great with denim cut-offs and boots. Particularly during festival season.
Rounding out Spring were plenty of shredded jeans, jean jackets and quilted denim bombers as well as a plethora of hats, shoes and accessories that will have mass appeal when the season comes around.

When art and fashion collide it is a glorious thing and when that collision occurs with denim, it is truly magnificent.
Contrary to what your eyes are telling you, the image above is not an illusion created by photoshop. It is actually a limited edition collaboration between artist Rob Pruitt and J Brand Jeans available exclusively at Barneys New York. At this point you're probably viewing the photo again trying to discern if I'm pulling your leg. I assure you it's real. Pruitt has perfected the art of gradient painting and is widely known for the technique.
DL1961 is going to make you fall in love with the skinny jean again
It's hard not to find humor in this whole idea that denim is dying (see Denim is Not Dead). It becomes even more ridiculous when Kylie Jenner wears two different voluminous denim tunics, that are gorgeous I might add, and becomes the biggest topic off the runway this season.
From NY Times Fashion to fashion week enthusiasts, instagram feeds are chock full of denim street style. My favorites, Kylie's tunic, of course, and an amazing wrap skirt that mimics tying a denim shirt around the waist.

Seriously, does it look like denim is dying to you?
Denim, leather and leather-like looks dominate the DL1961 Fall campaign. Missing are the boyfriend, slim-straights and crops which they do have. Instead they chose sleek silhouettes in the form of the basic skinny and buttoned-up styles (see In the Showrooms: DL1961's Colorful Boyfriend Styles and Two-toned 90's Jeans). However, I can personally attest that DL1961 slim boyfriend jeans are my personal favorites so don't discount them because they're not in the campaign.
Some techy stuff about DL1961 you might find interesting is the introduction of odor-repelling technology similar to what's used in activewear. Nice! This will make more of my jeans pass the sniff test when going on the fourth or fifth or eighth wear. Anywhooo..
