The Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference held at the newly minted Milk MADE Studios was a mixed bag of industry veterans and up-and-coming bloggers alike, all looking to walk away with information on how to leverage their social media platforms. Although the conference was all business, a quick look around made it clear that this business was about fashion and, of course, we caught the best and most interesting denim looks.
Tucked-in and put-together or worn like a jacket, denim shirts are proving to be more than just a passing trend. As it incorporates itself fully into wardrobes, styling options for this item should continue to grow. Speaking of jackets, I was surprised at the amount of denim jackets that many attendees were sporting ---no fancy stitching, no fun colors, just a basic denim jacket, usually worn over a very eclectic outfit.
A vintage denim dress, originally from Bloomingdales, and a pair of acid-washed jeans from the 80's were worn by attendees who fully immersed themselves in the era, going for more off-beat looks. Conversely, a pair of marblized gray skinnies with shimmery details at the ankle were polished with a sequined blazer.
Last, but not least, color abounded. Last season brands like Diesel, J Brand and M2F Denims began introducing color palettes to their collections. However, despite all the purples, blues and yellows, reds are the clear winner with pink, bright red, fuschia and salmon all making an appearance in skinnies, crops, skirts and even in menswear.
